A few weekends ago I got Saturday off (I usually get Sundays and Mondays) so my boyfriend Will and I did some yard sale-ing and I found some gems! I paid $8 for the dress, but it has some fading and I think is supposed to be a robe, but I've decided that I'm going to shorten it to knee length because I want to wear it out on the town. It's hard to tell by the photo, but it's a midnight blue crepe with beautiful sea foam green satin and thread detailing. The card of flattened flowers were millinery flowers from a 1930's estate and the woman didn't even know what they were. I'd been looking at millinery flowers on eBay for a while to make brooches out of, but they can get a little outrageous price wise. So for $10 and snatched these little beauties up and didn't set them down. With a little bit of steam, some pins and floral tape I transformed the sad, crumpled mess into a flock of flowery brooches. We found the hutch sitting in the grass at backyard-sale and I fell in love with it the first moment I saw it! I imagined turning it into a baking station and a place to display lovely kitchen-y things. I paid $75, which was kind of painful, but it goes so well with my other furniture I have (watch for future posts) that I couldn't pass it up. To end our day we stopped at a local thrift store and I got the sweet vintage lamb flower pot for $3, even though Will gave me a weird look when I showed it to him with extreme enthusiasm. Throughout the day I also picked up an old bow-tie that I want to make into a hair clip and some 1970s beige strappy sandals that are the SAS brand my 85 year old grandma wears, but they're very cute and so comfy! Old people sure do know how to pick comfortable footwear...
